Alpine Boot Selections 2005/2006

If you follow all these fitting steps and give your technician good feedback throughout the fitting processes The Vertical Drop will guarantee your fit for the usable life of the boot.

Vertical Drop's buyers make their boot selections based on fit and function and our history with the customer. Our selection of models is based on the previous history of the feet we fit and the ones we could not fit. We then choose the models that give us the largest selection of different fits available. This is more important than just choosing our stock based on looks and brand popularity. You will find some great deals and very competitive pricing on all the boots that we stock. The biggest change for this season is that we can fit more feet better than ever. With the addition of more boot models and continually upgrading of our boot fitting process, The Vertical Drop can assure you that we will fit you and it will be a great fit. Alpine Boot Models

You will find that we have broken our boots down to performance groups. These groups overlap our ski groups and are designed to give you a start on selection. The final decision is going to be based on the fit of the boot and the terrain you prefer to ski. The ski will also impact how good of a boot you need or whether you can get away with a better-priced model.

For the ease of understanding we have developed a system that seems to make sense with today's skis and boots. Recreational Skier ; this is a skier just out to be on the snow a couple times a year. They don't care if they improve that much. This also covers first time beginners who usually will rent but not always. Sport Skiers ; tend to be more concerned with the whole experience at the resort than the equipment their skiing on. Your idea of a great experience is a sunny day, great food, and a lot of fun with family and friends. This skier is usually a beginner thru intermediate, sticking to green and blue runs. You want comfortable feet and skis that will get you down the hill safely and with ease. Performance Skiers ; this level is not necessarily defined by ability levels but more by the desire to improve you're skiing. An aggressive beginner thru advanced skier could be classified here. If you find yourself first in the lift line and still skiing in the dark at the end of the day and if you have a passion to ski and get better this probably is you. High Performance Skier ;You ski fast and very aggressively. The equipment is very important to you. Function is usually more important than convenience and looks. If you are seeing yourself here, have we got the equipment for you?

ski boots

Performance All Mountain
This group has the boots with precision shells and liners but not the race type fit. They still maintain all the power to drive the high performance and performance level skis. In general this group has all the fit and function available from each manufacturer. They are appropriate flexes for all our high performance and performance ski groups.

All Mountain
This group has the more comfort-orientated liners. You also give up a little stiffness in the shells, which is ok for the performance and sport level skis. With most of the companies you will find a few less bells and whistles.

Ladies Performance All Mountain
This group contains the models with ladies specific lasts and shell heights. Unlike the men's groups, the ladies generally are softer shells for the lighter smaller skiers and do not need as many models. This group contains both performance and all mountain boots.

Sport
This group has the boots built the most for comfort and with the softest shells. The models we have here cover a wide variety of ability levels and are some of the best deals we have in the store. Generally this group contains the boots that match up with our package skis.

Ladies Sport
Ladies specific last and shell heights built for the most comfort available. You will give up a little control with some of the models, as the shell will be much softer flexing.
