Custom Boot Fitting - Stance Alignment - Ski Balancing
The Vertical Drop has gained a reputation nation wide for being a leader in custom boot fitting and production of custom insoles. The combined experience of Dean, Rick, Todd, and Erik is over seventy- five years. Our bootfitting staff is lead by Rick Barton, which gives us an edge not available in other Chicagoland ski shops. Rick has been a leader in the ski industry, working with hard to fit feet and building custom insoles since 1973.
While working with some of the most advanced shops across the country, owning his own shop, and working for a major ski boot manufacturer, Rick has trained boot fitters and developed techniques being used in shops across the country today.
Today's shaped skis have made skiing easier to learn, more terrain has
become accessible for the sport skiers, and you can control your speed better. To achieve this new found euphoria on the snow your equipment and body all need to be much more in synch with each other. If you're not in the best bio-mechanical balanced position you probably will not enjoy this new generation of equipment as much. The money spent to have this all done is well worth it when you can forget you have equipment on and are just enjoying that great day on the slopes.
We have collected a list below of our most FAQ's about the custom work we do. Move your mouse to the question and you will find the answer.
The custom fitting process is a teamwork effort between your ski tech and you. Be honest about your ability and where you ski and make sure your boot selection and sizing was done correctly. It helps us a lot to get your feedback after you have gone skiing or have worked with a ski instructor on the hill. Our staff is here to make skiing a fun and comfortable winter sport.
